Dyfed Seniors v Glamorgan Seniors at Tenby Friday 21st April 2017

The first match of the season turned out to be a cracker. John Roberts led the team out against David Fraser and had a titanic struggle eventually halving the match. The next two matches were lost to strong opposition. A halve and a loss meant that the Dyfed tail had to wag and wag it did with excellent wins by Steve Sutcliffe, Huw Dixon and Rodney Haig. Match all square.

Debutant Jeff Banfield of Tenby narrowly lost two and one and therefore all was on the last match.

Simon Gravelle of Ashburnham had been the anchor man at Pennard last year and won his match to give Dyfed their first ever win against Glamorgan and fair in enough he did it again winning the last three holes to beat Rob Arbourne one up to secure a halved match for Dyfed.

Thanks must go to Tenby Golf Club for hosting the match and for their caterers for excellent food.

Dyfed v Denbigh

Borth 19th May 2017

Another enjoyable day with our friends from Denbigh at Borth.Unfortunately the result was not to Dyfed’s liking losing 4 1/2 to 1/2.

Two games were lost on the 18th. Rob Clarke & Lyndsay Morgan securing Dyfed’s only half point. Thanks must go to the members of Borth who host the match annually.

Dyfed will be seeking revenge next year.

Dyfed v Brecon & Radnor

Cradoc 7th July 2017

Cradoc Golf Club was in excellent condition. Unfortunately Dyfed only fielded 7 players due to three late “cry offs”.

Dyfed were soundly beaten by the home side 4-1 with the only Dyfed point gained by a borrowed player from Cradoc.

I would be grateful that in future plenty of notice be given if players cannot play, so that replacements may be found.

Dyfed Seniors v Dyfed Juniors

Ashburnham 11th August 2017

The Seniors and Juniors had an enjoyable day at Ashburnham both teams playing well. But youth prevailed with the Juniors winning by 3-2.

I wish to thank David Linquist for taking charge on the day.

Dyfed v Glamorgan

Swansea Bay 7th September 2017.

Swansea Bay Golf Club was in excellent condition , greens being excellent.

Dyfed had many first choice players unavailable , but the replacements were up to the task.

Rob Clarke playing top had a titanic struggle with Adrian Bragg losing on the 17th.Dyfed then put on the pressure winning the next four games . John Roberts, Dai Linquist , Ian  Thomas & Huw Dixon all prevailing.

Glamorgan then fought back with three convincing wins. It was left to Dyfed’s tail to wag. Graham Owens halved with Glamorgan Captain Ian Henderson. It was left to the last game on the course to decide the result. Excellent play by John Edwards from Penrhos secured a fabulous win for Dyfed 5 1/2- 4 1/2.

Well done Dyfed Seniors.
