Match v Brecon & Radnor

Dyfed Whitewash Brecon & Radnor in a Washout

Fantastic win for the Dyfed Men’s team today at Carmarthen against Brecon and Radnor. It was important we fielded a strong line-up as last year we were soundly beaten. Due to the poor weather the match was reduced to an 18 hole 4 ball Better ball match with Dyfed winning all 5 matches.

Today’s team was:-

Alan Jones and Chris Thompson 3 and 2

Gavin Scotcher and Shaun Dyson 3 and 2

Jamie Dean and Richard Morton 2 and 1

Abe Forsyth and Rhys Lindquist 5 and 4

James Pegg and Ian Marks (capt) 7 And 6

Notable mentions must go to young Jamie Dean for playing his first senior county match at the age of 14 and winning it in the process.

Also Jamie and Abe Forsyth for getting selected to represent Wales under 16s.

And a massive congratulations to Gavin Scotcher for reducing his handicap to scratch after 38 years of trying.

This result will give the side a boost of confidence before the Intercounties Championships at Borth Borth on the 17th of September.

Two fixtures have already been arranged for next year with a home and away match organised again against Millfield School. So along with the usual fixtures, the Men’s team will have a busy schedule against some quality opposition. This can only be good for the development of the game in the County and will give the captain an opportunity to pick more players and add some depth to the squad.

Ian Marks

Captain.
