      1. 1.4 B – A junior who is member of more than one club must indicate “month prior” to first order of merit event which club they representing. Any junior who doesn’t indicate is thereof representing their home club.

    Apologies of absence from Elaine Rees(Glynhir), Karen Bayliss(Cilgwyn), Nick Daniels(Machynys),Ray Lerwill(Newport Links) and Mike Davies (Glyn Abbey).

    Minutes of the previous AGM were approved on the proposal of Paul Evans seconded by Martin Dean. There were no matters arising.

    Henry Malloy then took over the matters on the agenda.

    Rhys Harry gave an update on the Junior coaching scheme in 2017 with 20 coaching days. The U14 and U16 players attending regularly and the U18 less well with significant individual successes at National level. He has been appointed Junior Coach for the coming three years with a 10 day contract for 2018. He specified the format of coaching sessions including skills etc.

    Henry Malloy gave a detailed report on the 2017 Junior Golfing activities. Team results were disappointing but individual successes were the best ever with three Welsh champions –Jamie Dean U14, Bryn Thomas U16 and Luke Harries U18 who also won the Trubshaw Cup and played in the Jacques Leglisse team against the Continent of Europe. He also gave a detailed update on the change of handicap limits for the various competitions.

    The Rules for Order of Merit competitions for 2018 were discussed. Boys handicaps to be increased to a maximum of 24 for the medal competition, 25-36 for the stableford and 37-54 for the 9 hole competition.

    Simon Nicholas proposed that Junior Organisers present at each venue be involved collectively in ensuring good pace of play and safeguarding of players particularly the younger element. This was unanimously approved. Parents will remain barred from being involved and remain 25 yds behind players.

    The County Championship will be held at Carmarthen GC on 29th August 2018 and to be held at Cardigan GC in 2019.

    Order of Merit events and dates were agreed for 2018

    2 Milford Haven May 28th

    3 Cilgwyn July 14th

    4 Glynhir Aug 7th

    5 Glyn Abbey Aug 15th

    6 Carmarthen Aug 29th

    2019 Order of merit venues are Newport Links, Ashburnham, Glynhir, Trefloyne and Glyn Abbey with the County championship to be held at Cardigan. Milford Haven was nominated as a reserve venue.

    All Order of Merit event results to be e-mailed to David Blackmore who will update them on the DGU Junior website.

    Henry Malloy requested clubs to involve more players in the South Wales boys championship in 2018.

    The County matches and national events calendar will be distributed to all clubs by Henry Malloy and placed on the DGU website.

    Iestyn McEvoy(Glynhir/Carmarthen) was unanimously approved as County Captain supported by Bryn Thomas as Vice Captain for the coming year.

    Junior Kit will be ordered via Mike Davies Glyn Abbey. Henry Malloy would try to find a sponsor.

    It is hoped to arrange a Junior Autumn Tour to Gloucestershire in the Autumn of 2018.

    Andrea Martin gave an update on girls’ fixtures for 2018.

    The Annual dinner for 2018 will be held at Ashburnham in 2018 and at a Pembrokeshire club in 2019.

    Henry Malloy will liaise with Stuart Findlay and Sian Simmons of Wales Golf with regard to Safeguarding arrangements for all championships.

    The Chairman thanked all for attending and wished all clubs a successful year.
