Junior AGM Minutes 2017


Held at Carmarthen Golf Club, Wednesday 25th January 2017 at 7.00pm

Apologies of absence from Michael Williams(President), Dafydd Latham(Treasurer), Karen Bayliss(Cilgwyn), Martin Stimpson and Dennis Hughes (Ashburnham).

Minutes of the previous AGM were approved on the proposal of Emyr James seconded by David Blackmore. There were no matters arising.

Henry Malloy then took over the matters on the agenda.

Rhys Harry gave an update on the Junior coaching scheme in 2016 with 36 players coached out of an initial application by 100. The U18 group was the poorest attending. He has recently relinquished his position as GUW coach to concentrate on supporting DGU Juniors. He will continue to work with GUW and GDW in coaching the DGU players.

The County Championship will be held at Newport Links GC on 30th August 2017 and to be held in Carms in 2018 and Ceredigion in 2019.

Order of Merit events were agreed for the coming season.

1, Ashburnham April 14th

2 Cardigan April 21st

3 Haverfordwest May 29th

4 South Pembs July 28th

5 Machynys Aug 23rd

It is hoped that more girls will be involved in OOM events with Simon Nicholas to find a donor for a trophy.

2018 Order of merit venues are Tenby, Milford Haven, Glyn Abbey, Glynhir and Cilgwyn with the County championship to be held at Carmarthen.

All Order of Merit event results to be e-mailed to David Blackmore who will update them on the DGU Junior website.

Henry Malloy requested clubs to involve more players in the South Wales boys championship in 2017.

A list of County matches and national events drawn up by Henry Malloy is to be distributed to all clubs. Junior kit is to be ordered by the Junior Organiser from Mike Davies(Glyn Abbey) and to be worn by players in County matches only.

Luke Harries(Tenby) and Billy Truman(Trefloyne) were unanimously approved as joint County Captains for the coming year.

It was agreed to pay 50% of the purchase price for a trophy in the Denbighshire match.

It is hoped to arrange a Junior Tour in 2018. Andrea Martin gave an update on girls fixtures for 2017.

The Annual dinner for 2017 will be held at Cardigan GC on 3rd November and in Ashburnham in 2018 and at a Pembrokeshire club in 2019.

The Chairman thanked all for attending and wished all clubs a successful year.
